Wisbech Town 0 - 2 Pickering Town

Away | 29 September 2018 | Attendance: 117
Bottom-of-the-table Pickering Town became the first side since the opening day of the season to prevent Wisbech Town from scoring in a 2-0 Evo-Stick Northern Premier League Division One East defeat in North Yorkshire.

The Fenmen were without the unavailable Michael Frew and Dan Bendon whilst Danny Setchell was starting a three-match ban for his sending-off last week.

The home side were unlucky not to take the lead in the first half as the crossbar came to Wisbech’s rescue, whilst at the other end Aaron Hart found the side-netting with a shot when a cross was probably the better option. Alex Beck did choose to put the ball across the six-yard box when he got behind the Picks defence but none of his team mates were on hand to apply the finish.

Pickering took the lead twelve minutes into the second half through Josh Greening and went further ahead in the 67th minute after substitute Ollie Gale – on for the injured Adam Millson – upended Joe Danby. Ryan Blott sent Dan Swan the wrong way from the resulting penalty to secure the points and close the gap to the 17th-placed Fenmen to just one point but from two games more.
